Drivers legroom

Post by matthewj »

Hi everyone,

I do hope to import one of these cars in the future, but to keep the dream alive I just have a question about ergonomics?

Would anyone know the distance between the accelerator/brake pedals and the front of the seat when in it's backmost position?

I guess this is kind of a random question 🥴. Just want to get a feel for how the legroom is.

Thanks!

I remember one youtube reviewer commented about the front seating by saying "it's a Japanese car made for Japanese people." His way of saying not very roomy in the front half.

Another point of reference: I am 5'10" and that's possibly the max height to be comfortable. Sometimes catch myself attempting to move the seat back during a road trip, but it doesn't move because it's already at max distance.

Comfortable is subjective, but if I had 1 or 2 more inches it would be even more comfortable in the driver seat.

Pug the measurement will be so helpful!

And Eric, that is where my concern lies. I have read some people who are also 5'10" say it's a bit tight and then on some other pages on Facebook there are drivers who are 6'3" and say it fits fine :? .. I guess it's all in proportions.

My rationale with the measurement is that I'll be able to match it with my car and at least feel for it.

Thanks both for all of your help :)

Looks like about 60cm/2ft.

I think your bigger problem will actually be the awkward center console that really does interfere with your left arm once the seat is that far back. I'm short enough that it (only just) doesn't bother me, and I'm 5'9".

You're not in Washington state, are you? You can come and sit in mine. :)

Hey Chris,

Thank you so much! So helpful.

I just measured my current driving position and it happens to be exactly 60cm from the pedals.

Thank you for the offer but it's a bit far hahah - I'm from NSW, Australia.

I have sat in a Century before - I was fine with the towering skyscraper at my shoulder but didn't pay enough attention to leg room.
The century seat looks to be a bit higher so I tried to match the photo. It is perfectly comfortable :)

I've also attached my comparative photo for anyone's interest (and any other lurkers who may stumble across this thread.)
