Tail light troubleshooting

Post by AnthonyF311 »

Hey, guys. So I crossed off most of the laundry list on my new to me '97 Century. The air conditioning has been recharged and the transmission oil has been changed. But there's one issue that keeps persisting and it's with the tail lights. I've replaced all of the bulbs but the tail lamp warning light still comes on. I disconnected the battery so the car could recalibrate and the issue persists as well. Some of the lights work at least so thankfully I can still drive the car but I'd like to figure this out once and for all.

ETA: When the car is off, all lights work for some strange reason.

Has anyone else had this same issue with their G50 Century?

Hy Anthony.
My Century doesn't have that problem.

I think it's probably a computer problem.
Is it lit up like in the photo in this link?
If so, replacing the two parts with this part number should fix it.

I've also had this problem, but it could well be the wires in the boot maybe just getting worn, that happened with mine, also for me it gave the same warning for 2 different reasons, either when I put my foot on the break pedal or when I turn on the headlights, (I'm sure you know that all 6 red sections of the taillights are supposed to light up?) so maybe just check the wiring or for any loose connections :)
