We know the Century is a special auto. An oil change is no reason to lose class. Treat your century right with only the best wrench. I find the Toyota official oil filter wrench to be just the fit.
Special ordered from Toyota Japan. It is a beautiful tool. Solid metal, thick welds, and polished smooth. Fits a ⅜ inch wrench. It fits snugly on the Toyota oil filter. Just enough clearance to take the wrench on and off the filter smoothly.

It's difficult to know this even exists. The tool only appears once on page 108 of the 1997 Century Repair Manual.
Here is a google translation of the oil filter procedure. Take notice of only "one more turn" to tighten the oil filter to spec.
1 Oil filter attachment / detachment Oil pump
(1) Use SST to remove the oil filter.
(2) Remove dirt and foreign matter from the mounting surface on the engine side.
(3) Add a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring of a new oil filter.
(4) Install by hand until the O-ring hits the mounting surface.
(5) After the O-ring hits the mounting surface, tighten it with SST one more turn
